Just as an opener.

I bought my PT 180 for landscaping around my property. After going through Garden Tractor forums of every type, I decided, I wanted something that could do more than simply mow the lawn, and pull a cart around the yard.

Price was a concern since I knew the wife would be giving me the
( what did you need this thing for? )

I wanted more bang for my buck. It seemed the PT 180 fit all of my needs perfectly. I felt it could do much more considering price, than a comparable GT with a front end loader. My only regrets, I do wish Power Trac had the Mini Hoe option for cool little machine.

I bought mine because I'm clearing and prepping a 4+ wooded tract for my future retirement home -- and it's on a hillside that slopes down to a creek on one side and a lake on the other. The PT's stability on slopes, in addition to the affordable attachments such as a grapple bucket and minihoe were the deciding factors -- those two implements alone "sold" he tractor to me.

I needed a front end loader that would be useful for many things and not just loading. Didn't want more than 1 machine to maintain and store and needed something that could mow the grass without tearing up the turf and give a decent finish cut...PT fit the need peerfectly. I can't believe I use to do all the "loading" manually for years before getting this machine....musta been nuts!

I hvae a 425 and bought it primarily for landscaping work around my 3 acre home.  Moved 40 yards of mulch and 20 yards of top soil like nothing ...

Just wanted to point out in this thread that I just added PJ's story of why he bought his PT-425 (with his permission, of course .

I think it turned out pretty nice:
