I'm new to My Power Trac.  Just picked up my PT425 a week ago, but this site and TractorbyNet were great resources when I was deciding what to buy.

Some background - I had a CAT 216 skidsteer for 5 years which worked great while doing the hardscape around my house, but was less useful now that most of the work is finished and maintenence is what I need most.  What I liked most about the skidsteer was being able to watch the work area close up and felt a tractor wouldn't fit the bill.  Between this site and the PT forum at TBN, I became convinced this machine would be best for my needs.

I only have 12 hours on my machine so far, but it has exceded my expectations.  I did want to say I have used the maintenence schedule and found it very useful, great tool.  Hopefully people will continue to use this site, although it appears to not very active.  I hope you continue it and I will continue to check in periodically.

Please do check in routinely -- and contribute. I can't build a very useful site all by myself.

You're the first owner that I know of who's provided direct feedback in comparison to a skidsteer.

Hi DWhitley,

I have owned my PT425 since shortly after Christmas 2000. I owned Massey and JD compact tractors but neither was the all around machine I was looking for. I searched long and hard, high and low until I stumbled across Power Trac. This site was non existent at the time (to the best of my knowledge) so I really felt like I was out there as far as info went. Made the trip to tazewell and was sold. Ordered the machine and five attachments home with me. Got the tractor a day or two after the new year.In short, these machines are great.

The long answer is that these machines are animals. I did break it once, but I was probably doing something that I shouldn't have been. I have just under 600 hours on it now and can honestly say that this is the best money I have ever spent. Unmatched versatility, simple to use and operate, and built like a tank.

You won't be sorry.

Hi Kent,

I wish this site had been around back in 2000. It would have made my decision a lot simpler. But in the end, I own a great machine and appreciate your efforts.
